The Krypton Legacy

PROLOGUE

"MANY PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN OF KRYPTON'S SPLENDOUR AND HAVE WONDERED HOW ONE PLANET'S FIRE COULD BE EXTINGUISHED IN ONE TERRIBLE CATASTROPHE."

Spoken by Superman at the Great World's Fair Peace Conference in 1965.

The spaceship was covered in hieroglyphs.  Ran Kryp studied his charts.  The planet was uninhabited, but there must be life down there.  He brought the ship in for a landing and he stepped off it and he looked at the barren landscape.  There was a cold breeze that whistled through the great mountains of rock that rose up like jagged fingers.

He then went to wander around this planet.  He came across a small hut that had been built out of what looked like seaweed.  He knocked on the door.  If only he was not the only one stuck on this planet.  Then a beautiful woman stepped out into the dark.  She was holding a fire crystal.

"Hello, please come in out of the cold," said the woman.

He entered the house.  It was considerably warmer in the hut than outside.  The woman sat down and a small white dog came running up to her and sat at her feet.  There was something about her that was beautiful and cool.  She looked at him a long time before she spoke.

"My name is Tonn-We, I was stranded here 2 years ago and I have not the technology to create a safe enough vessel to leave the planet."

He listened to her story with interest.  Ran Krypp felt a certain sadness that he had never felt before.  The lady said he could stay until he made repairs to his ship.

Time passed and Krypp felt himself falling slowly in love with this woman.  Tonn-We also felt the same interest towards Krypp.  One day Rann Krypp plucked up the courage and he asked her for her hand in marriage.  She gladly agreed.

On the home planet of Krypp, when couples were married, it was the husband-to-be that made the blessings.  The wedding went off without incident.  Krypp and Tonn also realised that this planet that had brought them together was un-named.

Krypp's first name meant "Jewel" and Tonn's meant "Of The Cosmos." They named the planet Krypton.  In long, "The Jewel of the Cosmos."
